Expert RooferVerified memberWhen patching stops working, build the roof again properly.
Most of the Victorian and Edwardian houses across Cricklewood, Kilburn and West Hampstead still carry roofs that have been patched for decades. The slates themselves can outlast the nails holding them, and once the nails go the whole slope starts to slip. When repairs keep failing in new places, a re-roof is the cheaper option over the next twenty years.
A new roof from us goes back to the rafters. We strip the old covering, check and repair the timbers, lay breathable membrane, fix new treated battens and put on the new slates or tiles with new ridge, hip and verge details. Lead at the chimneys and abutments is renewed as part of the job, and the gutters and fascias can be replaced at the same time while the scaffold is up.
New roofs carry our 20 year guarantee. Your free quote sets out the covering, the details and the price before anything starts.

Roofs and gutters, one team
The leak is often where the roof meets the gutter.
Rain runs off the slates or tiles, over the felt and into the gutter on the fascia board, then down the downpipe. When any link in that chain fails, the water ends up in the wall or the ceiling. A roofer who ignores the gutter, or a gutter fitter who never looks at the roof, fixes half the problem.
We do both. The roof, the lead, the fascias and soffits, the gutters and the downpipes are all our work, checked at the same visit and priced in one quote.
- Roof covering, ridges and lead
- Fascias, soffits and bargeboards
- Gutters, hoppers and downpipes

Questions
Questions about new roofs
What guarantee comes with a new roof?

Can you renew the gutters at the same time?
Yes. With the scaffold up, it is the right moment to renew gutters, fascias, soffits and downpipes, and we do both.
Will you tell me if a repair would do?
Yes. The quote is for what the roof needs. If a repair will do the job, that is what we quote.
How long does a new roof take?
A new roof takes several days, depending on the size of the property and the weather. We plan the work to keep disruption to your day to a minimum.
Is the quote free?
Yes. It is free and there is no obligation.
